Biogas Plant Expansion

Biogas Plant Expansion – Addition of CHP at Wastewater Treatment Plant.

A wastewater treatment authority with an existing high-rate anaerobic lagoon required an experienced design team for the upgrade of their plant to include a Combined Heat and Power (CHP) generator.

Finn Biogas was contracted to undertake detailed engineering design works and certification for the project, including design of a new biogas pipeline, civil footings design, structural design for gas pipework supports, gas treatment + conditioning process design, and connection to a new Combine Heat and Power (CHP) generator. The scope of works included the integration of existing brown-field Anaerobic Digestion (AD) assets with new infrastructure, HAZOP, hazardous areas classification, certification of design and augmentation of the existing control system and electrical infrastructure.

The team worked collaboratively with both client and suppliers to deliver a design which met the needs of design brief, while reducing project lifecycle costs and construction timelines where opportunities were identified to do so.
